3.10 Newmarket – Turftrax.co.uk Sectional Timing At Newmarket Handicap

DANCE OF HEROES ran a race full of promise last time out after a long layoff and with his trainer’s horses running well, today may be the day he starts on the road to living up to his nice pedigree. By Danehill Dancer from the family of High Chaparral and Black Bear Island he is breed to be better than an 81-rated animal.

Today will only be the fifth start of his life and given his promising latest effort there is surely more to come. Last time out at Sandown he showed a strong ability to travel well before not matching the winner and runner-up’s late efforts.

Having been maybe a touch keen and travelling around the bends a littler wider than ideal, with no cover and on his first run since March he was probably entitled to have been a sitting duck late up Sandown’s stiff finish. He still hit the line well, however suggesting, as his pedigree does, today’s step-up in distance would suit.

Others, most notably Oasis Fantasy, have stronger form in the book, but Ed Dunlop is struggling for winners at the moment and Oasis Fantasy returns from a two month break. Most aren’t open to the same improvement as the selection and with there being pace on in today’s race that should help him settle as he steps up in trip.
